The National Cherry Blossom Festival an annual spring festival held in Washington, DC. It celebrates the springtime and the cherry blossom trees (those trees are a gift that symbolizes the friendship between the United States and Japan). The blooming of those cherry trees makes the nation's capital full of pink for four weeks. The festival includes a big and very diverse program and it lasts for an entire month. The highlights are the Opening Ceremony, the Blossom Kite Festival and the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. Most events are free and open to the public.
